Working with Young People:

Academic Day

  • Birney Elementary Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Program: Teach academic garden classes to all grades weekly – 17 hours/week plus garden care and special classroom support
  • McKinley Elementary Octopus Garden: Teach academic garden to K-3 weekly with monthly touches to 4th/5th – 15 hours/week
  • Jefferson Elementary Garden Program: Teach academic garden to K-5 14 hours/weekly
  • Pacific Beach Elementary Garden: See all students every other month (four classrooms each Wednesday) 4 hours/week

Garden Clubs: After school enrichment to complete important garden work, enjoy the garden space and have time to do crafty projects.

  • Birney Elementary – 2 hrs per week in 8 wk sessions
  • Jefferson Elementary – 1 hr in 6-8 week sessions
  • McKinley Elementary -2 hrs per week in 8 week sessions

Working with Adults who work with children:

Mentor developing garden programs

Train adults to work with School Garden Programs

  • Creating and Sustaining Your School Garden

  • How to run a Garden Camp

Support Staff Wellness

  • “Salad Wednesdays” – garden salads for teachers
  • Participate in wellness activities, promoting locally grown fruits and vegetables

In Development:

  • Print curriculum from academic, club and camp program
  • Egg in the Classroom ™ – program to educate about chickens through classroom hatching an egg and doing chicken education
